CREATIVE ART
The essence of art is to express one-self. This is achieved by children making their own decisions in their artwork.
There is a difference in craft and art. Craft is useful to reinforce a fact or learning theme. Children follow direction to reproduce an outcome or premade piece, requiring no original thinking.
Art allows children to experiment with the materials and their own ideas. Children develop a sense of self-expression by creating with an unknown outcome.
This workshop encourages creativity and steer away from directive art for children to be free to experiment with their imagination.

CREATIVE MOVEMENT
Creative movement is a joyful way too explore movement.
Children learn about their bodies by increasing body awareness, physical skills, motor fitness, channel energy, rhythmic skill, strength, flexibility and coordination.
Movement stimulates imagination and promote creativity.
This workshop encourages children to express their individuality, personalities, thoughts and feelings and their own unique style.

DRAMA
Together we read or create stories, then use drama to bring them to life. We act out our plays for each other in group work or make our own characters through an art expression to produce a puppet performance.
Most children are a fan of puppetry and love to create and perform and doing so builds self-esteem.
Drama promotes communication skills, teamwork, dialogue, socialisation and stimulates imagination and creativity.
This workshop encourages children to be dramatic and act out stories with props and costumes.

MINDFULNESS
We get lost in a world of imagination during sound and guided imagery journeys.
Laying down on a mat with pillow, our mind takes us on a journey to an enchanted forest, or we become a mystical creature in an unknown world and so forth.
Then we join in circle together to share and listen to each other’s journey experience and discoveries. Becoming confident speakers and great listeners.
Nurturing a child’s imagination enhances their creativity and growth in all areas of learning, well-being and self-development.
We learn breathwork techniques and awareness of body sensations for relaxation.
A life skill we can all benefit from.

FEELINGS AND EMOTIONS
Creative expression helps kids articulate their feelings and thoughts.
Children who may be having difficulties in other parts of life may find an expressive outlet through the creative and expressive arts. It helps them communicate ideas, feelings and solutions in a way other than verbally or written.
Children are encouraged to participate in their own way, in their own time, with no pressure. There is no right or wrong way.

INTENTION
We stay together as a team. We work together and we help each other as we move through each activity.
Children can feel a sense of belonging to a group and experience the joy of learning.
The language of children is play! It is how they learn, grow and express.
It is my intention to encourage children to freely explore the creative and expressive arts through play by providing a space, time and resources for their creativity to flourish.

Age 5-12 Program
Parents drop off and have a two-hour break while we set to work on our fantastic-ness.

FACILITATOR
Hi I’m Bec Roberts the workshop facilitator.
I experience a lot of joy and satisfaction working with children.
I am proving an environment for children to develop their relationship to the world and each other, by learning and growing through play, joy and self-expression.
As a care taker, I support each child’s individuality and personal growth by guiding children with kindness, encouragement and lifting one’s spirit to believe in themselves and achieve their own personal best.
